Nangka High School which is the ninth secondary school in Marikina City was opened to public on June 5, 2006. It was inaugurated on June 2, 2006 by Hon. Maria Lourdes C. Fernando. It is constructed along Kabayani Road, Nangka Marikina City. It faces the lush valley of Quezon City and the famous Marikina River.Its feeder schools are the Nangka Elementary School and the H. Bautista Elementary School.

During its first year of operation, Nangka High School opened complete secondary education in order to cater the needs of the community. And, it was temporarily made an annex of Marikina City with twenty-six contractual teachers. But on February 6, 2007 it got its approval as an independent school by the NCR Director Teresita G. Domalanta.

For SY 2009-2010, the school has thirty-nine (39) regular-permanent teachers, seventeen (17) contractual teachers, five (5)administrative staff and six (6) volunteers. Mr. Albert B. Mutia, the school principal has continuously managed the school since its opening.

Nangka High School has one-three storey building with twenty six (26) instructional rooms. An extension building was inaugurated on December 8, 2008. A part of its basement is used for the livelihood training programs for the community by the Office of the City Mayor.

On the year 2010, the school with its 1,974 students, forty three (43) regular-permanent teachers, eleven (11) contractual teachers, nine (9) administrative staff and two (2) volunteers was headed by Ms. Lagrimas B. Garcia. Known for her being dynamic, dedicated and a woman of substance, great changes and development had been developed and improved.

As for the year 2012, the school welcomed a very humble yet approachable Officer-In-Charge, Mr. Freddie D. Viernes. This man’s expertise could probably make a difference.

His advocacy towards quality education for 1,877 students, coupled with continuous monitoring of teachers’ competencies, and improving school’s facilities would surely make way in the realization of the school’s dream.
